Harry, Karen, and I took a tour of the new automotive school being built for Noorderpoort in the heart of the car dealers in Groningen. It is a beautiful building--with completion in June and open for classes in August.
Later in the day (1 PM) Karen and I met Alycia to climb Martini Tower as the visibility was much better. There were a lot of steps and very steep.
A panoramic view of the city. The building being built by the cranes will be torn down (about one story tall right now) because it needs to be reconstructed to better meet the earthquake construction codes.
This roof was interesting (seen between the bars). what do you think they do with the water that flows down the inside roof? The inner square might be 10x10.
This was the church behind the Martini Tower.
Gravestones inside the church that you walked on. I had said the only tomb that you could not walk in Westminster Abbey was the tomb of the unknown soldier. You can walk on royalty there. (I had to Google that to make sure I was right!)
This room was being set up for a Free Masons ceremony.
This belonged to a priest who had been buried in the churchyard.
Alycia and I waiting for our hard earned refreshments on a Friday afternoon. There were probably 2,000 people at the Donar game the night before--but I was the only one all day that I saw in the shirt that had been given to us! (Donar is now down 0-3.)
Flowers at the market in the square.
Later, Karen, Frank, Jaap, Hardy, and Annemine met for drinks. The weather was great and the streets were crowded with people sitting out--wrapping up the work week and starting the weekend. It is very common to end the work week with a drink.
